Holly's Pilates Village FAQs

What is Pilates?

We believe Pilates is the most effective and efficient way to exercise and maintain lifelong health.

Started by German immigrant Joseph Pilates in the late 20th century, Pilates is a system of exercise that combines elements of strength training, yoga, mindfulness, coordination, boxing, gymnastics, and cardiovascular conditioning.

Pilates builds core strength, flexibility, and lean muscle tone by lengthening the body and aligning the spine, rather than on bulking and shortening the muscle

Who can do Pilates?

ANYONE!

At Holly's Pilates Village, we currently work with clients from ages 13 to 90. Many are recovering from illnesses and injuries. Some are trying to gain strength, balance, and muscle tone. Others are working towards physical fitness. Whatever your goals, we will develop an exercise program that will help you feel good, have fun, and learn healthy movement patterns.

Why do we offer Yoga?

All these disciplines feature healthy movement. They all help build strength, flexibility, balance, and mindfulness.

Yoga literally means "union" in Sanskrit. Yoga asanas are stretching exercises that improve relaxation, coordination, stamina, and balance.
